Glass edge trims and door weatherseal - Looking for quotes

December 7, 2023:

I am in the process of looking for quotes to get all the shrunken glass trims reproduced with newer material type in hopes of getting rid of the shrinkage issue. I will also get the door weather seal done too to help with preventing any water intrusion due to having an old squashed/torn seal. The plan here is to offer all of this together as one set.

I have a set of new unused OEM door weather seals, rear window trim, windshield trim, door glass and mirror edge trim and an outer door and glass trim for the manufacturer to check measurements from.
They have to measure it up to quote me for how much a die will cost to extrude the product and how much minimum product I have to pay for (usually a day’s run). Looking for a shop that can manufacture all of it as the first place that was local to me declined on the weather seal and only was confident enough to give me a quote for just the rear window trim.
Based off the high cost of dies and big quantity run of a day minimum (length varies depending on product, the rear window trim was quoted for 6000ft, I’m sure the door seal will be less since it is a more complicated piece that may extrude slower. I expect the price for a full set to be completed and available at somewhere between $650-1100. Yes I know that is a big range, I will know more later on after I get some numbers back. Still it is a bargain compared to what one part of those trims go for currently if and when they do come up. At least this will get you newer material where technology has probably improved with UV protection, flexibility, and durability.

Still waiting for the engineers to finish drawing up and figuring out the dies to give me a quote on this project. Stay tuned for an update.
